This workshop will advance your flows and the transitions between movements.

We will focus on linking your movements to your breath in order to switch off the mind and connect to the present moment, creating a moving meditation.

This will be an energising and uplifting workshop where we will have a play with some arm balances and inversions to create a fun and creative sequenced class.

Does an hour Pilates class sometimes feel like it's not quite long enough? Then why not try our 90 minute workshop!

In this workshop we will be using weights and the foam roller to enhance and intensify the movements. The focus of this workshop will be on deeply working the glutes and fully engaging the abs whilst also giving you a total body workout that will leave you feeling strengthened and toned.

Suitable for all levels but especially designed for people new to yoga.
 
This workshop is a must if you are new to Yoga but is highly recommended for anyone who wishes to fine-tune their practice and get more out of their regular classes.
 
Basics will be broken down into bite-able chunks, so you can develop a better understanding of the postures, of the techniques involved and of your own postural habits. Learn about common mistakes and how to avoid them so you can build a stronger, more supple body right from the start.
 
We go slow so that you can learn and implement the tools to safely develop your yoga practice and grow in confidence that you are doing the postures correctly. You’ll learn how to modify postures to better suit you and your body. You’ll learn how to breathe correctly and how to match the breath to your movement to create more fluidity and reduce tension.
 
There will be time to ask any questions you may have and receive individual feedback on your practice.

There are over 20 muscles that cross the hips, hamstrings, psosas, adductors, biceps femoris and lliacus to name a few.  When hips are tight, they increase the load and cause overuse of the spine.  

In addition to the benefits of improved range of motion and circulation and decreased back pain, opening the hips can create an energetic shift or release as well. Yogic tradition holds the hips as a storage ground for negative feelings and pent-up emotions, especially ones related to control in our lives. Hip-opening can also create space for the birth of new ideas and new pathways.

Opening the hips gives us access to freedom in the body and in our own unique expression, creatively, physically, sexually, and spiritually. Within this workshop we will explore a Yang Yin style of practice, building heat to create space, using this space to surrender in effortless ease.

Learn to backbend with strength and integrity to find space in not only the body but also in the mind.

Working into backbends can often be challenging bringing up emotions from deep within. In this workshop we are going to declutter and free up the heart, twist and tone the body to prepare to move safely into our backbend practice in a way that you can integrate into your personal practice.

We will finish this practice with grounding pranayama to settle the nervous system and balance our energy throughout the body.

Let’s face it — we live in an age of endless and relentless distractions.

Most of us are overwhelmed by a deluge of incoming data, choices, and information.

Though we yearn for quiet and stillness we just don’t know how to switch off the end-less chatter. Your body will often bear the brunt of our chatter-box brain by responding with tension, pain or difficulty relaxing Your mind feels the impact leaving you feeling jumpy, irritated and just all over the place.

It can feel at times like all of our joy in life is sucked out of us leaving us numb and exhausted. In this Calm Body, Calm Mind workshop we aim to reverse some of these effects with techniques from Yoga, Somatic Stillness and Untying the Knots
 
What we will learn:
  • A slow mellow Yoga Sequence to bring you home to yourself 
  • How to switch off after a hectic day through the practice of Somatic Stillness 
  • Self-massage Body Rolling to elongate and decompress your spine, soothing painful, muscular contractions of shoulders and neck
  • Release the main muscles of anxiety in your tight gut and anxious belly and learn how to create ease in your body to still the mind.
  • Body-based relaxation to soothe, re-store and bring you back to life
My hope in this workshop is that we will leave feeling like we’ve gathered ourselves back to ourselves so that we feel more centered and at ease both in body and mind.

Understanding healthy alignment in urdhva dhanurasana is key not just for safety in our backbends but also to feel invigorated and energised after we do one.

Birth Preparation Workshop with Hazel Cazzini at Dundrum Sun, 12 Nov 2017 at 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Half-day Birth Preparation Workshop led by a prenatal yoga teacher and midwife Hazel Cazzini. Suitable for expectant mothers with their birth partner from 34 weeks of pregnancy onwards.
 
Originally founded by Janet Balaskas, Active Birth is a philosophy of working with the natural process of labour and birth.
 
As the term "Active Birth" suggests, women are encourage to be active not passive during labour. This approach promotes walking around, remaining upright (where possible), choosing positions for labour and birth freely, and finding ways to relax in upright positions. The Active Birth workshop is designed for the pregnant woman and her birth partner. It outlines the birth partner’s role in supporting their partner physically, mentally and emotionally during labour.
 
This practical half-day workshop is designed to help you prepare for labour and birth, using movement, breathing and relaxation techniques.
 
€100 per couple 
  • This antenatal education workshop is refundable under some health insurance options as it is led by a midwife. Check your policy for more details. Receipts given for the workshop.

Backbends Opening the Heart and Mind

If you're like most of us, backbends can be quite emotionally and physically challenging. They're the opposite action of our everyday activities such as texting, driving, sitting at computers, and bending to pick up kids. Backbends are so healing partly because they reverse these habitual motions. They open up space, energize, and restore balance to our bodies and our lives.

One of the deepest lessons in the yoga practice is about bringing the energy up the spine and cleansing the nervous system. Backbends thrust your full life force up through this central channel and burn through blockages along the way. 

This workshop will explore areas of strength and flexibility, warming the core and shoulders to encourage the heart to shine.

Deep Slow Flow - Hips and Splits with Aisling Ryan at Dundrum Sat, 9 Dec 2017 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Quite often this time of year we are always in a rush, in this workshop we will slow things down to lengthen and strengthen the body.

We will work into delicious deep slow flows to warm up the body so we can work towards deep hip openers such as splits pose, birds of paradise and other juicy stretches. Hip openers help to relieve stress, support the lower back, improve range of motion and circulation throughout the body and..... they feel absolutely amazing!

Take this time just for you to let go of all that unwanted tightness.
