Happy Hips with Samantha Lee Doyle at Hot Yoga Rathmines Sat, 19 Jan 2019 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The winter months are a perfect time to slow things down – in this workshop, we will
be slowing down and moving through some deep hip openers to not only deepen our
splits but to create space.
Most of the time in yoga it’s not necessarily how strong or flexible you are, it’s about
how you approach pose, it’s about getting to know your body, tuning in and coming
back to yourself.
Together we will work with the breath and the body to create a flow that will open the
hips and deepen your splits. These flows will challenge you to find comfort in the
uncomfortable and calm your mind when it starts to wander. My favourite part of my
own practice is finding new and fun ways to transition into poses and I can’t wait to
share my favourite creative flows with you!
You will leave feeling inspired, refreshed and empowered!

€30 each or €100 for all four workshops with Sam.

Workshops for Teachers - Healthy Alignment with Olwyn Kearns with Olwyn Kearns at Dundrum Sat, 26 Jan 2019 at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Healthy Alignment

In this workshop we will explore alignment principles for the physical body and explore ways to find alignment energetically too-as a way to find freedom rather than the picture perfect pose. Safety and different bodies all come into play. How can we find space and freedom within.

Part of this workshop will be discussion as to what alignment means to you and how we can move beyond the boundaries we set here as to what’s right and what’s wrong. We’ll look at our own bodies and where there may be restriction - then explore what might be going on for us energetically too.

Self practice on and off the mat requires deep self inquiry, acknowledging all aspects of our personality. Only when we begin the process of really healing and finding balance ourselves can we pass these teachings on. It is Ultimately a practice, always learning evolving, exploring.

Bringing this to our teaching we will discuss how to make these practices accessible to all. Acknowledging different bodies and different mindsets require different alignment cues.

Workshops for Teachers - Creative Sequencing with Olwyn Kearns with Olwyn Kearns at Dundrum Sat, 26 Jan 2019 at 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Creative Sequencing for Teachers

A nice follow on from the Alignment workshop moving beyond the “peak pose” or “perfect pose” in a practice. Exploring why we are doing that pose? beyond the physical benefits.

Refine your class sequencing tapping into the rhythm of the earth and in the room offering a practice that is balanced, effective and inwardly satisfying.

How to create a theme - it may be a grand theme or something subtle and more underlying in the practice but ultimately relevant - allowing the sequence to unfold in a more organic way.

Learn how to maintain the rhythm of the class and move from the class plan gracefully so everyone in the room is included

How can we tap into and trust our intuition, embody the flow taking on the energy in the room and the world around us and let the practice unfold.

As with all in this series of workshops there will be discussion as to what works what doesn’t. Recognising what works for us as individuals too. Where we may be blocked and preventing ourselves from stepping into the flow.

Embodied Yoga as Fascial Fitness with Lizzie Reumont at Dundrum Sat, 2 Feb 2019 at 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Ever wonder what gives your body its shape? Fascia, the connective tissue that webs itself in and around the body, plays a major role. We can feel elastic and soft, or solid and glue-like, depending on our life’s experiences and how we manage our self in gravity over time. Fascia is what enables us to feel a connection from head to toe through our movement patterns, or to experience pulls of asymmetry. There is increasing evidence to suggest that ‘exercising’ the fascial web throughout the body is as important as cardio and muscular fitness. But what is fascial fitness? In this workshop we will explore the ‘how’ of movement patterns. Using yoga asana as a common language, We will amplify our awareness of the unique patterns that are held in our body that may contribute to a physical limitation, injury or even chronic pain. We will begin to explore fascial connections throughout the body and look at patterns of flexion and extension that open the fascial layers. Lastly, we will explore a new way of moving that will positively affect the fabric of the fascial system, increase overall health, strength and flexibility. This practice is intended for yoga practitioners with a curious mind. It is open to those with limitations, chronic pain and a desire to add depth and dimensionality to an embodied movement practice.

Kundalini Workshop & Gong Bath - ‘Light of my Soul’ with Lisa Burke at Ranelagh Sun, 3 Feb 2019 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Description:
“The sole purpose of the soul is that you must shine like a star.” Yogi Bhajan
What kind of star can you become? Setting our navigation towards that deeper
calling from within our soul will be our focus for this workshop.
When we live with any level of disconnection, we can activate our greatest fears.
One of our greatest gifts is coming into connection with our inner guidance. When we
can release our deepest fears and sit in a place of receptivity, we can listen to that
calling.
Living with stress and anxiety, contracts our energy and creates a life of fear. It's
your choice to stay in this fearful state or expand your consciousness, let go of your
fears and step into the full expression of who you truly are.
Taking the energy of this focus, together we will practice Kundalini yoga through
movement and chanting, breathwork and sound healing from the Gong.
The Gong is a sacred and ancient instrument of healing, rejuvenation and
transformation. We will experience its strong sound current, which stimulates the
physical body, releasing tensions, stress and anxiety which resonate deeply into our
cells to bring healing on all levels. The Gong will support this energy to purify and
quieten the mind bringing peace to the heart.
During this workshop I will facilitate you to come into a space of deep listening,
releasing your deepest fears and connecting to the true light of your soul.

Love is All You Need - Heart Opening Backbending Workshop with Samantha Lee Doyle at Hot Yoga Rathmines Sat, 16 Feb 2019 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Heart Opening Backbend Workshop
February 16th

Just as you can practice heart opening in your thoughts and emotions, you can also
experience opening the heart space in your physical body.
The physical demands (or lack thereof) of modern life have a way of drawing the
chest in on itself. Long hours at the computer or behind the wheel tend to round the
shoulders forward, bring on a turtle neck and generally cause the upper body to go
into a defeated slump.
Specifically, the pectoralis minor muscles that underlie the bigger pec muscles
scrunch up while your upper back muscles -- especially the serratus anterior --
become weak. This muscle imbalance can cause chest pain and restrict your range
of motion. Throw a frozen rib cage into the mix and you have a recipe for oxygen
depletion, thanks to the fact that drawing a full breath can make the intercostals that
connect the ribs feel a bit touchy. All that upper body tension is the gift that keeps on
giving and next thing you know the pain is travelling all the way down your spine into
your lower back.
The body stores emotions and chest openers are good for releasing sadness, grief,
anger and frustration. The more you expand your sternum, rib cage and the rest of
your upper body with chest openers, the more blood, oxygen and nerve circulation
will be freed up to invigorate you mentally and physically.
This workshop is designed to open the upper back, the chest and the heart
area. Creating space across the front of the body and working with the space in
between the shoulder blades, we will actively counteract our everyday sitting
posture.
On a subtler level, we will try and let go of the armour we put on every day to face
the world, working towards allowing ourselves to feel honest about who we are and
our vulnerabilities and, above all, responding to all this with kindness.

€30 each or €100 for all workshops with Sam.

Workshops for Teachers - Let Your Inner Voice Shine with Olwyn Kearns with Olwyn Kearns at Dundrum Sat, 23 Feb 2019 at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Let your inner voice shine.

Om Namah Shivaya- I bow to the teacher within. That inner teacher within all of us - how can we trust that teacher, tap into but also trust our intuition and let our inner voice shine. We all have something of value to say and offer as teachers, it takes digging deep and trusting that voice. Our job as teachers is to recognise that in ourselves bring it to the class and also encourage our students to do the same.

An invitation to sit with our thoughts and go beyond the physical practice to search deeply within ourselves through journalling meditation and more.

Who you are, how you practice on and off the mat, brutal honesty with yourself, letting go of comparison and attachment to how you think you should be and knowing that how you are and who you are is the unique gift you have to share. When we pretend to be something we are not -we are not authentic. Honesty with ourselves and also our students will ultimately make your teaching more authentic and that is more powerful than achieving any advanced asana. The work required is ongoing. Recognising this is part of the process.

Workshops for Teachers - The Business of Yoga with Olwyn Kearns with Olwyn Kearns at Dundrum Sat, 23 Feb 2019 at 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Business of Yoga

Understanding your relationship to money and how that effects your business.

Understanding your self worth (Artha)

Exploring this in our Yoga practice on and off the mat

What shifts in your Yoga practice when it moves from being the ultimate self-care ritual we incorporate into our lives to it being your work life too? There is a major shift that may not be obvious initially but over time and through different life events it may become something else. How can we keep ourselves on the path, how can we make a living from doing something we love. How can we avoid burnout!

What can we do in our self care regime to keep our practice separate in someways to our class planning and training. It is very easy for the lines to blur the practice and self care getting muddled in training and planning as we take on many (possibly too many) teaching jobs. How can we continue to work and make a living while keeping the magic of the practice alive within ourselves.

Bringing all my years of teaching experience plus many many more of business and life experience to help you plan and navigate this growing industry without losing yourself to it.

Workshops for Teachers - Philosophy in the Classroom with Olwyn Kearns with Olwyn Kearns at Dundrum Sat, 9 Mar 2019 at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Philosophy in the classroom

Anyone who has done or is doing a teacher training knows just how overwhelming the booklist can be especially when it comes to exploring philosophy. Full of hidden meanings in every sentence, different interpretations, contradictions yet we feel their value on a deeper level.

How can we bring this to the classroom? In a way that is accessible.

Exploring philosophy beyond the text books in order to make it feel real in our own lives so we can bring it to our classes in a more authentic way.

Creating a more thoughtful practice to encourage your students to live their Yoga.

You never want your class to feel like a lecture so how can you bring these teachings in so it’s relevant.

We will look at the Sutras, Yamas and Niyamas and more.

The METHOD: Flexibility with Talia Sutra at Hot Yoga Rathmines Sat, 16 Mar 2019 at 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
The METHOD: Flexibility
True physical flexibility is an extension of a flexible state of being: a state of conscious surrender.
In this 3 hour class, you will be introduced to Talia’s three step flexibility method and learn to recognize and maybe even let go of the stubborn identification with resistance.
Using asana as as a portal to inner space, we will unveil our own natural spacious presence one breath at a time.
This state of flexibility is natural and everyone has access to it. The method just gives us a simple, true way to approach this lifetime practice so that physically, mentally, emotionally and beyond we are able to navigate more gracefully through ourselves and the world around us.

Do you have tightness in your neck or shoulders?

Come along and be guided through gentle, easy awareness-based Somatic Movements and explore ways to create more ease and freedom through the shoulders, upper back and neck.

Somatic Movement Education is a gentle, safe and highly effective way to end chronic pain, improve mobility and stability and relieve day-to-day stress.
With Somatics, we always work holistically, using processes that re-educate the nervous system and help to restore functional movement. Through awareness and movement, you learn to sense, recognise and release habitual muscular tension and unwind their holding patterns in your body. As the muscles relax and lengthen, your mobility and strength increases, so you can enjoy normal activities in life with more pleasure and ease.

This Somatic practice can help to soothe tight muscles, relieve stress and improve body-mind awareness. Leave the workshop with less pain and physical tension, feeling relaxed in your body and mind.

No experience necessary, all are welcome.
