NEW STUDENTS/ FAQs

ATTENDING YOUR FIRST CLASS?

Please consider the following when attending your first class:

BRING A YOGA MAT

If you have one, or we have rental mats available at reception for €1. We also sell a variety of mats, and we would encourage all students to purchase their own for sanitary reasons.

CLOTHING

Wear comfortable clothing that won’t restrict your movement. You will be bending and stretching a lot so loose clothes tends to get in the way! You will not need shoes for your class so please make sure to take them off beforehand. Being barefoot allows more grip on the mat in various poses.

WATER

Drink plenty of water the day of your class and bring a drink of water with you to keep hydrated (bottled water available to buy at reception).

EAT

Don't eat too much before you come to class. A piece of fruit or nourishing snack is a good idea about an hour before practice.

ARRIVAL TIME

On your first visit please arrive at least 5-10 minutes before the start time of your class. The receptionist will tell you all you need to know. Late arrivals may not be allowed into class.

DISCONNECT

Please turn off your mobile phones when in the studio. Anything that dings, rings, or buzzes—should be turned off. Be present!

BE PATIENT

Keep an open mind and be patient. Just like anything in life, it takes time to adapt to something new. Take a few classes to see if this is right for you.

HYGIENE

Please respect yourself and your class mates. We are practising together in a close space, so please be mindful! Mats need a wash regularly too. Please ask us for tips on mat washing or check out this blog post "Clean Living".

RESPECT YOUR LIMITS!

Always listen to your body—don't push yourself beyond what you are capable of just to keep up with the rest of the class. If it gets to be too much, spend time in child's pose until you are ready to jump back in.

ENJOY!

Know that after each class you will get stronger both physically and mentally. Enjoy the journey!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO I NEED TO BOOK A CLASS OR CAN I JUST SHOW UP?
We recommend that you prebook each individual class that you want to go to as some classes are busier than others and we cannot guarantee you will get a spot in your preferred class without a booking.
HOW DO I BOOK A CLASS?
You can sign up for a class through this website or download our free mobile app. If easier you can call us on (01) 298 0300 or email info@yogadublin.com – we’d be happy to talk you through it! Please note, bookings are only taken with an associated payment.
HOW DO THE WAITLISTS WORK?
If a class you’d like to take is full, we highly recommend putting yourself on the waitlist.

To do so, you must purchase a class or series. If you do not get a spot in the class, you will not be refunded the amount but the class credit will be put back on your Yoga Dublin account - to be used again.

If a spot opens, you will be added to the class and receive an email confirmation. Please respond to this email letting us know if you can make it or not.

All classes have a 6 hour cancellation policy, so you should find out if there is a place in the class 6 hours before the start time of the class.
WHEN SHOULD I MOVE UP A LEVEL?
Don’t rush away from being a beginner. It is here that you learn the foundations of your practice; they will support you for the rest of your practice and allow you to develop and progress in a safe manner. If you are thinking of trying a higher level class, speak to your teacher for their advice.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PRACTICE?
That is up to you, but consistency in your practice is important. If you are new to yoga, two times a week would be good at the beginning, and slowly build up from there.
I'M NOT FLEXIBLE - CAN I DO YOGA/ PILATES?
Yes! It is a good reason to start practicing yoga! Come as you are and you will find that your yoga/ Pilates practice will help you become more flexible.

Or why not start with one of our Foundations Workshops to get you started.
I HAVE AN INJURY - DOES IT MATTER?
Yes, depending on the nature of the injury you may or may not be able to attend group classes. Please contact the studio in advance of attending classes for advice. If you are working with a particular injury or ailment and attending class, always tell your teacher before class starts of your injury.
CAN I ATTEND REGULAR CLASSES IF I AM PREGNANT?
It is not recommended to attend any classes until your second trimester of pregnancy (14 weeks +). The safest way to practice yoga during pregnancy is to go to classes that are designed specifically for women who are pregnant (prenatal yoga classes). If you have a regular yoga practice at Yoga Dublin and want to continue attending nonprenatal class only some teachers permit students to attend when pregnant so please notify us when booking to check with the teacher.
WHAT CLASS PACKAGE SHOULD I START WITH?
That’s easy – our Introductory Offer – €59 for 30 consecutive days of unlimited classes. With this pass you can mix and match your classes, try out different classes and teachers at both studios – see what you like.
WHAT AGE CAN I START?
18 – If you are aged between 16-18 and would love to attend class please contact us. With Parental/guardian consent and supervision you may still be able to attend. We would have to check in with individual teachers to see if you can head along to their classes.
