Baby Massage Next course, four weeks on Wednesdays, 9 July 2008, Saffron is away until 28 June, so please mail after then!

Taught by Saffron Kirwan (CIMI, MIRI)* Caroline Browne is covering while Saffron is on maternity leave, this course gives your baby the best possible start in life through massage and movement. Suitable for babies 6 weeks up to crawling age. The course tariff includes a book by Vimala McClure (founder of the International Association of Infant Massage), oil and handouts. Partners are welcome for the last class. 4 weeks €120, €150 for this and Postnatal togther! €75 from VHI Family Plan and Family Plan Plus for baby massage.

What is Infant Massage?

Infant massage is an ancient tradition in many cultures, which is being rediscovered in the West. Clinical evidence shows that loving, touching,nurturing contact between caregiver and infant has an important impact on their development.

Infant massage is something that every parent or caregiver can learn and practice - providing benefits to both baby and parents.

Infant massage can:

  • Improve communication between parent and baby
  • Help to calm babies emotions and relieve stress
  • Soothe babies and help them to sleep better
  • Help babies in the development of their bodies
  • Enhance parents ability to understand babies needs
  • Aid digestion and help to relieve colic, wind and constipation
  • Help develop muscle tone, co-ordination and suppleness
  • Strengthen the immune system
  • Regulate breathing and relieve nasal congestion
  • Improve skin texture
