My Journey to Becoming a Yoga Teacher - Part 3

by guest blogger Kate Barry

Life feels kinda like I've been riding the crest of a wave the last few weeks... Rising and falling, rising again. The first week of training feels like so long ago now, the flip chart we wrote our intentions for the course on is sitting in the corner of our yoga room every day and is ingrained in my mind. Growth, practice, patience, kindness, gentleness, communication, overcome, focus, smile....and it's all happening. It feels as natural as going to work to be driving to the studio each morning now.

With the first test over and being past the two week mark, the whole atmosphere has shifted. The group has grown closer as the days pass - helped along by our little bonding session jumping into the Forty Foot the other day! Everyone is there for each other in such a lovely way, always checking in if someone is worried about something or feeling worried or overwhelmed. We spend so much time together and you really do look at each other as friends now not just an acquaintance you've met on a course.

For me personally the nerves over speaking at the front of the room are FINALLY starting to ease, albeit slower and a lot later then I'd hoped that would happen. But still, progress is progress. Growth is growth no matter how small the steps are. There's been giant jumps and baby steps, pretty much every day. I can't even believe there's only a few days left.... I don't want it to end now! Every day we learn so much new information, every day there's more laughs and fun, every day someone is freaking out about the next test, every day I go home with a bit more knowledge and a bit more attachment to our little yogi group. Every day my head holds a little more knowledge and my heart a little more love :)

For now it's time to focus on the last week, theory and practical tests and giving my all to soak up all I can while I have this chance!
