Random Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm is a contagious emotion. Feeling so excited that you need to share and pass on the enjoyment. The camaraderie of listening to a friend describe their latest discovery or fun experience. Sometimes it’s the sum of the little things that keeps us happy and it’s great to get enthusiastic about every one of them.

In business, people network to share contacts, opportunities and ideas. What if we networked happy? Swap ideas, photos, texts and tips about things that make you smile. Tell your friends about a new book or product you used. It’s all positive stuff and passing that around can only be a good thing.

My favourite thing about enthusiasm is that with just a little faking, it can be kick started. A little effort, a smile on your face and off you go!

Here are some of the bits and pieces I’m loving at the moment. Let me know what’s new with you in the comments!

Motivation
For a bit of encouragement on my morning runs, I’ve been listening to Running Like a Girl by Alexandra Heminsley and Run, Fat B!tch, Run by Ruth Field. Amazingly they are making me run further and easier than before and the anecdotes and humour are wonderfully distracting! A must listen for beginners and devoted runners alike!

Flower Power

You can’t beat the real thing but I’ve recently invested in some artificial flowers to brighten up my room and my work desk. It’s amazing how pretty the fabric flowers are and relatively inexpensive. I’m in a yellow mood at the moment and surrounding myself with flowers definitely brightens my day. For locals, try Dunnes Home (see pic) or Heatons for great price and variety.

Mad Men
Yes, I know I’m behind the posse but I’ve started watching Mad Men and I’m obsessed. I love it. The style is fabulous! I’m so happy there are seven seasons! If you’re looking for me I’ll be on my sofa, practising my beehive! If you haven’t seen it yet, give it a try.

Sprinkles
Nuts, seeds, healthy fat... all wonderfully good for you, especially for glowing skin coming into summer (any day now, I hope). I’ve been making my own “sprinkles” for my morning porridge by blitzing mixed nuts (unsalted) and mixing in chia seeds, desiccated coconut and mixed seeds. Along with a dusting of brown sugar or drizzle of honey breakfast is sorted. Add any goodies you fancy, dried fruit, dark chocolate chips etc.

After reading all of Liane Moriarty’s books I’m now on the hunt for my next great read/listen. Any suggestions?

Have a fabulous bank holiday weekend. Fingers crossed for BBQ weather!
