Getting up-side-down has many documented benefits both for body and mind in the yoga philosophy. Inversions require little strength but is mainly a matter of conquering your fears and believing you can do it. Being up-side-down strengthens the respiratory and circulatory systems, gives all the organs a rest and allows rich nutrients from the blood to flow to the brain.
Like all practices but especially inversions, we require a deeper understanding of how/why to practice these poses to avoid injury. The headstand is known as the king of Asana so why wouldn’t we want to know how to do it!
